How to plan outfits for the week

Plan a week of outfits from clothes you own: dress the hard days first, follow the forecast, repeat on purpose, and let Flamingo plan around your calendar.

Last updated: 24 October 2026

To plan outfits for the week, look at what each day holds, check the forecast, and pick one outfit per day from clothes you already own before Sunday ends. Start with the days that need something specific, such as a meeting, a dinner or travel, then fill the ordinary days with easy repeats. Lay the pieces out or save them somewhere you'll see in the morning. Flamingo does most of this from your phone. Once your clothes are in your digital wardrobe, it suggests an outfit for each day from your own pieces and the local weather. On iPhone it can also read your calendar and plan around each day's events. You can try every planned outfit on your twin, a free AI avatar of you, so you know it works before you get dressed.

Why plan outfits for the week at all?

Mornings get shorter and you stop buying "something to wear" in a panic. Planning ahead also shows you what you actually wear, which pieces never get picked, and what's missing.

How do I plan a week of outfits, step by step?

  1. Write down the week. Note anything that changes what you wear: the office, a client meeting, the gym, a date, a trip, a wedding.
  2. Check the weather. Plan the outer layer and the shoes for each day's forecast first. They're the pieces most likely to be wrong.
  3. Dress the hard days first. Pick outfits for the occasions, then fill the other days around them.
  4. Repeat on purpose. Wear the same trousers or jacket twice with a different top. Five outfits rarely need five of everything.
  5. Check everything is clean and ready. Wash, iron or mend on Sunday, not at 7 a.m.
  6. Save the plan. Put the outfits on a calendar, in a note, or on hangers in order.

How many clothes do I need before I can plan?

Fewer than you think. Twenty pieces you wear often, such as two or three bottoms, six to eight tops, one or two layers and two pairs of shoes, give you a week without repeating a full outfit. Add the rest over time; see how to build a digital wardrobe.

What if the weather changes?

Plan one swap per day: a warmer layer or a different pair of shoes. Flamingo's daily pick follows the forecast, so check it in the morning and change the layer if it suggests something different.

How do I plan outfits for a trip?

Treat the trip as its own week. Choose a small set of pieces that all go together, then plan each day from that set. Use the outfit generator with the travel occasion and try the looks on your twin before you pack, so you don't carry anything you won't wear.

Can I plan outfits without an app?

Yes. A notes list or photos of each outfit on your bed works. An app helps because it remembers every piece you own, follows the weather for you, and shows the outfit on you before you put it on.

Is it free?

Building your closet and making your twin are free. Trying outfits on your twin needs Flamingo Pro, an optional subscription that also unlocks the other Pro features. Details are in the FAQ.
