Playing dress-up with your AI avatar: why multi-piece try-ons are fun

There is a practical side to virtual try-on, and there is a fun side. Once Flamingo has built your free AI avatar from two photos, you can dress it in almost anything, and it quickly turns into a game of dress-up with yourself as the doll. The fun comes from multi-piece try-ons. Instead of one item at a time, you pick a top, trousers, shoes and a bag, and see the whole outfit at once. Swap one piece and try again. Put your own jeans with a jacket you would never have picked in a shop. Copy an outfit you liked on the Inspo feed and see how it looks on you. Because the avatar keeps the same pose and light, a row of try-ons reads like a lookbook of you, which is surprisingly satisfying to scroll through. And when you want a second opinion, you can share a look or ask Flamingo to roast it.

Build outfits you'd never try in a changing room

Changing rooms have limits: three items, the sizes in stock, a queue behind you. With an avatar you can try the colour you always avoid, the trousers you think are "not for you", or a full look from a different style. If it works, you've learned something. If it doesn't, nothing was lost.

Steal a look from Inspo

The Inspo feed shows outfits shared on Flamingo. You can sort it by what's for you, what's popular and what's new. When one catches your eye, tap Try on and the same outfit goes onto your avatar. It's the quickest way to find out whether a look you admire works on you.

Compare before and after

Every try-on has a before and after slider. Drag it across and watch the outfit appear on your avatar. Doing this with three or four versions of the same idea is where the "just one more" feeling comes in.

Get roasted

Roast my fit is the part people share most. Upload an outfit and Flamingo's AI gives it a blunt, funny verdict and a score out of 10. It's not polite. That's the point.

Share the ones you like

Looks you make with your avatar appear on the Inspo feed by default, so other people can try them too. You can switch any look to Private whenever you want. You can also save a look or send it to friends before a night out.
